*I have two Math class. What you;re gonna read below is both math class combine (I didn't separate what I learned from each class. Sorry if I bring you any inconveniences)
First Marking Period:
In Math we are going to focus of algebra for the rest of the school year because now that I'm in 8th grade, I need t take the regents of algebra 1 for credit points and if I pass I can take algebra 2 in high school. (Nervous about high school. I wonder which school will I get into. I don;t even know what school I want to get into. -> Better start doing some research). We star off the school year (first marking period) on how to solve an algebra equation. I believe that it's (easy or hard). I have learned this a bit last year in 7th grade. Such as why kind of equation their is. We mainly focus on linear equation first. We learn about the slope and how to write an linear equation. We learned about parallel lines and the general form of a linear equation which is y=mx+b. We learn how to graph it and use a graphing calculator and find the x and y intercept(s).
Second Marking Period:
In Math we learned about scientific notations and then exponent function. Basically we did what we did for the linear function/equation but with another function which in this case is the exponential one. The general form for an exponential function is y=a(b)^x. We learned what 'a' represent and 'b'. We also learned that for the linear function (forgot to mention it). After that we earn about negative exponential function. Another way of saying it can be decay rate. For positive it's called growth rate. During this unit we use money as examples a lot of time. We also learn how to graph it but we realize that we shouldn't always connect the point, it depends on the problem. After this we work on symmetry like reflection, rotation and translation.
Third Marking Period:
In Math we now learned about quadratic function. Like before we did the same as linear and exponential function but with quadratic equations. We learned how to graph it and we realize that quadratic equation is the only equation (for now, base on what I know for now) is the only function
that can have 2 x-intercepts. General form for quadratic function is y=ax^2+bx+c. After quadratic functions we learn about Parthenon thereon. When a^2+b^2=c^2 the hypnosis of triangles. We learned piece wise function. It's basically a function with more than one line when you graph it. We also learn that something is only a function when the x value only have one y value. WE also review over inequalities.
Fourth Marking Period:
